The Higher Education Finance Working Group invites you to
attend a policy briefing on Tuesday, July 31, at 9:00 AM in 188 Russell Senate
Office Building.
Featured speakers will include:
•John Dean,
Consumer Bankers Association;
•Barmak Nassirian, American
Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers;
•Peter Warren, Education Finance
Council.
Among the questions to be addressed include:
•How will currently-proposed policy
changes impact the future of federal financial aid and student loan systems,
and what changes can students expect to see?
•What aspects of the private student
loan market currently work for and against the interests of students, and what
difference could changes to federal policy produce?
•Would student loan auctions be a
positive development for students, and how might they work?
The Higher Education Finance and Student Loan Working Group
is a nonpartisan, informalcollective
that includes Congressional staff and representatives from several leading
public policy research organizations.The group began in 2007 to address changes in the nation’s higher
education landscape since the passage of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and
to discuss new policy strategies for meeting the nation’s evolving higher
education finance needs.
