BAE Systems, General Dynamics Disclose Leadership Shifts At Defense Innovation Hubs (From Forbes)
The first week in December brought news of important leadership changes in the most innovative segment of the U.S. defense industry. At BAE Systems, Inc. Chief Operating Officer Tom Arseneault assumed the additional role of President with its electronics-systems business. At General Dynamics, S. Daniel Johnson was named head of its sprawling Information Systems & Technology unit while also retaining his role as President of the unit’s multi-billion-dollar IT business. Both men are experienced managers who have solid track records in delivering superior shareholder returns. They assure continued capable leadership at enterprises central to sustaining the technology edge of America’s military. The Pentagon has recently been warning that countries like China are closing the gap in warfighting technology, but Arseneault and Johnson provide the kind of talent necessary to maintain America’s lead — if the government can be a smart customer. I have written a commentary for Forbes here.
