Boeing Board Taps Leanne Caret To Lead $30 Billion Defense And Space Business (From Forbes)
The Boeing Company announced after markets closed on February 24 that Leanne Caret, 49, would succeed Chris Chadwick as head of its sprawling defense and space business, which contributes nearly a third of corporate revenues. Caret has been a rising star within the company, in recent years running Boeing’s military rotorcraft, business, then serving as chief financial officer for the defense and space unit, and then heading its global services enterprise. The services business employs 16,000 workers at nearly 300 sites around the world. Caret is an energetic and engaging executive, but like Boeing CEO and incoming board chairman Dennis Muilenburg, she is a fierce competitor. It will take all of her talents to boost Boeing’s defense revenues at a time when Pentagon spending is capped by law, but if anybody can do that, it’s Leanne Caret. I have written a commentary for Forbes here.
