Congress Must Investigate What China Got From Working On The Pentagon’s Computers (From InsideSources DC Journal)
It is one thing for China to hack into sensitive U.S. files. However, when a powerful U.S. company practically invites them to do so, and thereby gain access to crucial information from the Department of Defense, Congress should use all its investigative powers to determine what went wrong and why.
At issue is Microsoft’s “using engineers in China to help maintain the Defense Department’s computer systems — with minimal supervision by U.S. personnel — leaving some of the nation’s most sensitive data vulnerable to hacking from its leading cyber adversary.” That is the lead from a thoroughly researched, investigative journalism piece by ProPublica, published on July 15.
Paul Steidler discusses this in an Op-Ed in InsideSources DC Journal here.
