How American Naval Power Enhances Its Diplomacy (From The National Interest)

In the wake of the deadly attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas, the Biden administration’s deployment of a massive naval presence in the Mediterranean shows that the U.S. possesses the capability and the will to use its military to preserve international order. Its presence in Crete’s Souda Bay is a shining example of the American military’s ability to facilitate conflict de-escalation through partnerships with allies. In the future, the United States’ presence in the eastern Mediterranean will be a factor that any anti-Israel actor in the Middle East will have to consider if they plan on joining the conflict.
