Internal Dissent Roils Top Defense Trade Group (From POLITICO)

Lexington COO Loren Thompson was quoted in a POLITICO article discussing the controversy in Washington over ongoing issues with the leadership of Aerospace Industries Association CEO and former Secretary of the Army Eric Fanning. Some defense companies have viewed his performance as lacking to such an extent that they are withholding their annual dues to the trade organization.

“One would have thought that given Fanning’s credentials he would have made more progress in persuading the Biden administration about industry positions,” said Thompson. He called Fanning “charismatic and very politically astute” with the most impressive resume he had seen from an AIA leader. “However, Fanning is basically a technocrat whereas the new administration’s regulators do tend to be more ideologues than technocrats,” Thompson pointed out.
