New Five-Year Study Paints Grim Picture For USPS (From Linn’s Stamp News)
Lexington Institute Senior Fellow Paul Steidler was cited by a report in Linn’s Stamp News, which summarized a new five-year plan from the United States Postal Service. The plan predicts American mail volume will drop significantly over the coming years. And for the Postal Service, this means the organization will face falling revenues that threaten its solvency.
Linn’s Stamp News quoted Steidler’s issue brief, “The Postal Service’s Strategic Plan – Five Things To Know.” Steidler wrote, “This is the most candid the Postal Service has ever been about its financial challenges.” Still, he added, the Postal Service must provide the public with more information about its outstanding debts to the U.S. Treasury.
