Lexington Institute’s Dan Goure comments for MilitaryTimes’ article on the preparedness required for the Navy’s Strategic Arctic Ports. Goure noted that Russia sees the Arctic as a “vulnerable long flank” and also noted that for Moscow, “the cost of maintaining, say, an airbase in the Arctic is enormous. And those are resources that could be used otherwise to threaten, for example, countries in Europe.”
