U.S. To Stay In Universal Postal Union (From FreightWaves)
Lexington Institute’s Paul Steidler comments for an article by Mark Solomon in FreightWaves about changes made to the Universal Postal Union. Delegates at the UPU approved measures to allow the U.S. Postal Service to raise international postal rates, instead of maintaining the “terminal dues” system which benefited countries like China with favorable rates. “The ideal scenario would have been a uniform move to self-declared rates sooner rather than later, ‘but today’s action works well, especially over the coming years for the U.S.,’” said Steidler.
