Ukraine War Is Backdrop In US Push For Hypersonic Weapons (From ABC News)
Lexington COO Loren Thompson was quoted in a piece by ABC News and the Associated Press on the U.S. Navy’s push for combat-ready hypersonic weapons. The U.S. is currently behind Russia on hypersonics. Russia claims to have deployed hypersonic missiles, while the U.S. has not yet done so. However, the Russian attack on Ukraine will likely accelerate U.S. development.
At the same time, said Thompson, “Russia may be exaggerating the capability of such super weapons to compensate for weakness in other areas.” He added that “for the time being, Russia doesn’t have many of the weapons, and it’s unclear how effective they are.”
