US Navy Applies Lessons From Costly Shipbuilding Mistakes (From Spectrum News)
Lexington COO Loren Thompson was quoted in a Spectrum News article discussing the ramifications of the Navy’s overinvestment in technological advancement at the expense of its next generation of destroyers. Despite Navy officials’ assertion that they have learned from their mistakes, there is a prevailing skepticism that recent change in personnel will not resolve any of the preexisting problems.
As many Navy officials prepare to take on new roles, Thompson stated that “it’s easy to imagine them making similar mistakes again with a new cast of characters.”
