US Power Grid Attack Points Surge With Proliferating DERs: A Hacker ‘Will Eventually Get In’ (From Utility Dive)
The Lexington Institute’s Paul Steidler discussed the growing threat to the electric grid from distributed generation and steps that should be taken. He told Utility Dive, “The problem is not the standards, it’s more the implementation. Standards have to be continually evolved and they’re not going to be perfect.” Steidler also called for rigorous vetting of cybersecurity professionals and for utilities to be named when they violate Critical Infrastructure Protection standards.
