Why The KC-46 Is The Better Plane For Taxpayers And Troops (From InsideSources)
Lexington COO Loren Thompson’s July 15 piece in Forbes (“Why The Air Force’s ‘Bridge Tanker’ Will Likely Be A Bridge To Nowhere For Airbus”) was referenced in an InsideSources article on the benefits of the Boeing KC-46 engine versus its Airbus rival. In Forbes, Thompson noted that the Airbus option burns 1,000 more gallons of fuel per hour than its Boeing competitor.
“Multiply the number of hours flown by the price of jet fuel, and operating costs over a 30-year-service life becomes much higher than with KC-46,” writes Thompson.
