Lexington’s Paul Steidler was interviewed by Michael Watson to discuss the argument against Congress cracking down on big tech companies. “There are a lot of proposals out there that would break up big tech companies,” he explained. “I think one of the most troubling proposals is… the American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICO). It has a vague definition of large tech companies… and opens the door for widespread government regulation of large companies.”
Steidler stated that the tech sector “has had a fundamental positive impact in terms of driving down consumer prices, making new alternatives much more widely known, and helping companies get to market much quicker.” Therefore, he said, “if there is tougher legislation against big tech, that is going to empower those in the bureaucracy to go after other industries.”
