Lexington Summer Intern: Nick Ciccarino
My name is Nick Ciccarino and I am a senior in the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, a short train ride to New York City. I am majoring in diplomacy with a minor in Spanish Language and Economics.
I am very fortunate to have received the opportunity to work for the Lexington Institute, as many of my interests coincide with issues of focus, such as nuclear weapons, ISIS, and other national security issues. My current goals include enhancing my research skills, and gaining greater insight about defense and national security issues.
To this date, I have researched topics including defense acquisition, Iran, and cybersecurity. I have also attended multiple events at think tanks around the DC area in order to gain a better understanding of recent developments.
As a Washington Scholars Fellow, I have attended various leadership events around the DC area. I have also met a number of career building professionals who have helped me understand how to become successful in DC.
My past work experience includes the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations. As an adviser, I represented the mission in the third committee of the United Nations and in the European Union and coordinated meetings in New York City. I also informed the mission about important information along with my opinions on the issues.
I am very excited to join the Lexington Institute as a summer intern and am thrilled for the experience to live and work in Washington, DC.
Best,
Nick Ciccarino
