The High Stakes Of Sensible Regulation For New Nuclear Power (From RealClearEnergy)
“If we want to power the economy of the future, we need a clean, reliable, around-the-clock source of electricity. Advanced nuclear power can deliver that.”
Those words are not from an energy executive, a Trump Administration official, or a Chinese leader whose country is rapidly deploying nuclear power. Rather, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said them in a July 24, 2025, Op-Ed in USA Today.
Governor Hochul’s comments reflect one of the most important and under-reported aspects of energy policy: there is broad, bipartisan support for nuclear power, especially new forms of it, and the realization that it should be deployed quickly.
Presidents Biden and Trump agree on this, as do the vast majority of Members of Congress from both parties.
Paul Steidler discusses this in an Op-Ed in RealClearEnergy at the link here.
