Why China’s Bid To Become A Superpower Is Doomed To Failure (From Forbes)
Beijing makes little secret of its desire to overtake and surpass America in the mastery of forces driving global influence. In other words, it aspires to be a superpower. However, that does not look likely. Its economy is slowing. Its population is aging. Its diplomacy is inept. Its military is inexperienced. And its technological progress is being impeded by sanctions imposed from abroad. These are not temporary problems, they are reflections of defects in the Chinese development model. So, America will remain the world’s sole superpower for the foreseeable future. I have written a commentary for Forbes here.
