Why the US-EU Tech Showdown Needs to Be Resolved by July 4 (From The National Interest)

The United States and the European Union (EU) have feuded for years about how U.S. tech companies, especially large ones, are treated by the EU. With President Donald Trump appropriately setting a July 4 deadline for the U.S. and the EU to fully implement and ratify a trade framework agreed to in July 2025, it is important that tech items be addressed.

The July 2025 Turnberry Accord, so named because the deal was struck at the President’s golf resort in Scotland, focuses on cars, trucks, agriculture, and energy. If tech items are not addressed in a fair and sensible way, it will minimize the benefits to the U.S. of the other provisions and leave a long-standing issue unresolved.
